Family of missing Saltcoats man plead for help to bring him home
Corry Ferguson was last seen at a shop in the town on Tuesday March 1
The family of a missing Saltcoats man are pleading for anyone with information that could help bring him home to come forward.
Corry Ferguson was last seen at the Spar shop on Wheatley Road in the town on Tuesday 1 March.
The 26-year-old hasn’t returned home or been in touch with relatives since then. His cousin Lana Cook tells Clyde 1 News that’s very unusual: “Corry is a homebody. He loves his home comforts.
“He wouldn’t routinely stay overnight at friends houses or anything like that. He likes to come home so this is extremely out of character for him.”
Corry is described as white, around 6ft in height and of slim build with brown hair. When he was last seen he was wearing a black parka jacket, a green hooded top, grey jogging trousers, white trainers and a black baseball cap.
Police helicopter and sniffer dogs join search
Inspector Barry McNaught said: “We are extremely concerned for Corry’s welfare as it is totally out of character for him to go missing and not to keep in contact with his family. If you have seen him, please get in touch.
“Specialist search advisors supporting local officers in our searches and ongoing enquires in and around the Saltcoats area. We have also been assisted by our Air Support Unit and police dogs. Officers are also continuing to check CCTV footage from the town in case that will help their investigation.”
As well as expressing her family’s gratitude for the efforts of police, Lana says it’s been surreal to see: “It is a bit weird to see helicopters and sniffer dogs out looking for someone that you love. But we are so, so grateful that they are deploying all these resources.”
Community search taking place at the weekend
In addition to the efforts of police a community search is due to take place on Sunday, March 15th. The search party is meeting at the Shack in Stevenston Industrial Estate with anyone who wishes to help urged to come along.
Lana has also thanked the local community for the help they’ve offered so far: “We couldn’t have covered all the ground that we have without all the local support that we’ve had, and we’re so grateful.
“It’s been an extremely stressful time and we really just want to find Corry and bring him home.”
Lana also pleaded for anyone with information that could help to contact the family or police: “We can’t help but think that someone must know something that could help us find Corry.
If that is the case, if anyone knows anything no matter how small, could they please, please come forward.”
Anyone with any information that may help officers should contact 101 with reference 1113 of 3 March.
