Family of missing Scots teenager informed after body found in Ayrshire

The man, who has yet to be identified, was discovered in Stevenston yesterday

The family of a teenager missing for nine months have been informed after the body of a man was found in Ayrshire.

Police Scotland said the body was discovered at around 4.30pm on Saturday in the Ardeer area of Stevenston.

The family of Jamie Cannon, 19, from Saltcoats, have been informed but formal identification is still to take place.

Despite police searches and appeals from his family, Jamie has never been found after he left his home to attend college last year.

He was last seen at Auchenharvie Golf Course, Stevenston at around 10.40am on May 20.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.30pm on Saturday, February 26 we received a call that a body had been discovered in the Ardeer area of Stevenston.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances and identity.

"The family of missing man Jamie Cannon have been informed.”
