Family of Isle of Bute missing man fear the worst

An Isle of Bute man is worried his brother will be found dead after being missing for nearly two weeks.

Paul Connelly hasn't been seen on the island since the end of November and while his brother Brian hasn't given up hope, he feels it's now a recovery operation

The family of the 45-year-old have issued a further appeal urging people to continue to help find him.

His brother Brian's been speaking to Clyde News two weeks on from when he was reported missing.

Brian said: "As a family and a community of friends in Bute, we're very desperate to have Paul back safe and sound.

"After nearly two weeks missing, my gut feeling is my brother's now dead.

"Having to admit that is very hard but I'd like to think we can find him and bring him home so we can grieve.

"The last two weeks have been the toughest my family have ever had to encounter.

"The sick feeling of Paul missing, especially after us having some of the worst weather we've ever seen for a while."

Chief Inspector Dougie Wilson said: "We continue to urge anyone with information on Paul's whereabouts to come forward. We'd particularly ask anyone who was visiting Bute between Wednesday 20 and Friday 29 November who may have seen Paul walking on the island to get in touch. If they have a dash cam, I'd also ask them to please look back at their footage of their time on the island to check if they may have seen him.

"It's possible that he may have travelled off the island. He is also known to have links to the Inverness area.

"Paul is described as white, around 5ft 8 ins, with short, dark hair. When he was last seen he was wearing a black jacket and blue jeans.

"Naturally Paul's family is extremely concerned and we just want to trace him as soon as possible to ensure he is safe."

Anyone with any information should contact police on 101 quoting reference number 2911 of 29 November.
