The family of a Cambuslang man found dead in a Marbella swimming pool are demanding answers from the Spanish authorities.
The family of a Cambuslang man found dead in a Marbella swimming pool are demanding answers from the Spanish authorities. The autopsy showed 32 year old Brian Nicol drowned at the villa he was staying at with friends on Sunday - less than 24 hours after arriving in the country. But his brother Barry reckons they're not being told the full story. Barry called Clyde News because the family are angry at how they have been treated. They didn't find out about the incident until 11am on Sunday - more than two hours after it happened - and say they've faced a communication blackout because it was Easter. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London confirmed with Clyde News on Monday that they were providing "consular assistance to the family at this sad time." We contacted them again after Barry told us his story and they issued this statement: "Where possible the FCO will inform next of kin of the death of a relative overseas. Permission from their family is always sought before we confirm the name of anyone who has died. "Consular assistance in the first few days involves providing bereavement information, confirming details of travel insurance and providing early advice on repatriation. We understand that there is a lot of information for people to take in at a very difficult time, and provide advice and support through a helpline that is open 24/7." But Barry says the family have been having problems getting information.
