A train station has been closed following reports a man was seen with a knife.

Police were called to Falkirk Grahamston station at around 8.50am on Thursday.

ScotRail said services through the station were subject to delay and changes while police dealt with the incident.

A police spokesman said: “Police in Falkirk responded to Meeks Road at around 8.50am on Thursday following report of concern for the well-being of a man.

“Local and specialist officers remain in attendance to engage with the man and ensure this incident is resolved safely.''

Police said shoppers were unable to use the nearby Morrisons car park for a time as emergency services vehicles were using it, however the store was not closed.

ScotRail advised people travelling from the town to use Falkirk High station if possible.
