Falkirk Pensioner Jailed For Raping 11-year-old

A 63-year-old man who raped an 11-year-old girl has been jailed for nine years.

Andrew Lees, 63, of Camelon, Falkirk, admitted raping and abusing the girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, over a four-year-period, from 2008.

The High Court in Glasgow heard that unemployed Lees sexually groomed the girl by touching her inappropriately and showing her pornographic films.

The first time he raped her he told her: "That was great."

The court heard that he repeatedly raped the girl from the age of 11 to 15.

After the first incident he raped her a week or two later and then almost every weekend.

She described just lying there, confused, scared and petrified.

Eventually last year the girl broke down and told her mother about the abuse and the police were contacted.

Jailing Lees judge Lord Turnbull told him: "Your behaviour, which was described to me, involved the most appalling catalogue of persistent grooming and sexual abuse of a young girl over a period of years commencing when she was only 11.

"You treated this young girl as your own sexual possession."

When Lees was confronted by police he told them: "That's unbelievable. That's untrue. I don't know where that's coming from."

However he later confessed saying: "It just happened," and claimed they had been in a sexual relationship.

Defence counsel Lorenzo Alonzi said: "He is a man who has worked hard most of his life. He has no analagous previous convictions."
