Steven Spielberg could be coming to Glasgow!

Movie bosses have submitted a planning application to shoot scenes for First World War movie '1917' at Govan Docks.

The location has a grizzly history, popping up in scenes from Taggart and the TV adaptation of Ian Rankin's Detective John Rebus series.

1917 will be produced by the Hollywood icon behind ET and Indiana Jones Steven Spielberg and directed by Sam Mendes, whose most recent works include James Bond's Skyfall and Spectre.

Glasgow's Film Office has been in talks with the production crew to bring the movie here and if approved a set would be built east of the Pump House.

A temporary extension would be as well as a temporary bridge spanning one of the docks.

The planning statemenrt reads: "The location of the filming is focused on the northern two docks which form part of the Govan Graving Docks. The set is proposed to be built to the east side of the Pump House creating a temporary extension to the existing building along with a temporary bridge which will span dock #1.

"This location has been chosen to minimise views from the surrounding road network and allow safe and practical access for all construction vehicles, crew and visitors. It is also the case that the proposal will bring significant economic benefit, such that temporary planning permission can be granted, as detailed within this statement."
