Former Radio Clyde host, Josie Smith, has released a festive track with the comedian and impressionist Jon Culshaw.

'The Time in Between' is about the week between Christmas and New Year which they say is an unusual time for many families.

Speaking to Clyde 1, Josie said the song has been popular so far.

"It has a unique selling point in that there is no other song about the special time between Christmas and New Year.

"We really hope it lives on past the festive season and helps people count down to the New Year in a fun way."

Josie's partner Michael Bannister who was a member of the Scottish band Texas for 17 years also worked on the song.

The idea came about in the autumn of 2020, but they agreed that was not an appropriate time for it to be released.

She added: "The crux of our chorus is essentially about having a nice Christmas and last year was the worst ever for so many people.

"It feels right this year and we all need something to brighten us up and keep us going.

"Seeing our video on YouTube was just incredible, it was created by puppeteers and talented producers right here in Glasgow.

"It is so satisfying having a project come to life especially for Jon because this is an idea he has had in his head for more than 20 years."

Chart stardom

The radio presenter admits that she is not too worried about taking on Ed Sheeran and Elton John for the Christmas number one.

Josie said: "I have been a very good girl this year and the thing at the top of my present list is a number one in the week after Christmas.

"That would be great.

"I think what we are all hoping for is simply for people to enjoy this track because at least we finally have a song that takes us from Christmas to New Year."
