A former youth worker from Glasgow has been convicted of sexually abusing two boys aged five and 14 and ordered to serve at least five years in jail.

James Campbell, 58, from Glasgow, who is considered at high risk of re-offending, was given an order for lifelong restriction by Judge Tom Hughes QC because of the danger he poses to the public.

Judge Hughes told Campbell: “You will not be released until you are no longer deemed a danger to the public.

“When you are released will be a matter for the Parole Board in Scotland.”

Campbell, who ran a YMCA project group aimed at helping troubled youths escape gang culture, bribed the youngest child with sweets and cash to perform sex acts.

The High Court in Glasgow heard that the older boy had to climb out of a window to escape Campbell.
