A pet boa constrictor has escaped from her owner's house in Newarthill.

In a post on Facebook, Kayla Strachan says she thinks Gretel, who is 7-8ft long, got out of her tank and through an open window on Lomond Walk.

She said: "We've hunted high and low and can't find her.

"She's hard to miss as she's around 7-8ft.

"We're hoping she's just found an amazing hiding place in the house.

"She's gentle and has never bitten any of us.

"I know I'm putting the fear of God into half of Newarthill with this post."
