Emotional appeal from family of missing Govanhill woman

The sister of a missing woman from Govanhill has made an emotional appeal for help in finding Janet McQueen.

The 58-year-old hasn't been seen since Tuesday the 18th of October when she was last seen by a neighbour leaving her home in the Langside Road area around 9pm.

Her sister Fiona Kilcoyne says it's out of character for Janet to be out of touch with her family.

She'd been on a bus in Ballieston earlier in the day where she became so distressed the police were called to take her home.

It's thought she might have traveled across the city.

Police officers have now spoken to 147 people in the South East of Glasgow and have been checking CCTV to try and trace Janet.

Janet is described as white, 5ft tall, of slim build with short black hair. She was wearing glasses, a black anorak and dark coloured trousers.

Inspector Alex Hutton, Cathcart Police Office, said today:

“We know from speaking to family and friends that for Janet to be out of touch for this length of time is not like her at all. There are serious concerns for her wellbeing.

“Our enquiries have been continuing to trace Janet safe and well."

“I would appeal to anyone who knows Janet, or who may have seen her since Tuesday 18 October, to call officers at Cathcart Police Office via 101. If you encounter officers on the streets of Govanhill and Shawlands, please approach them with any information you may have.”

“You may not think the information you have is much, but as part of our broader investigation it could make all the difference”
