The organisers of Elfingrove have said they'll make "tweaks" to the festive event after angry parents took to social media to voice their outrage.

The 'Night at the Museum' themed journey through Kelvingrove Art Gallery is priced at £18.50 for adults and £12.50 for children but some families left disappointed, telling others not to waste their money.

Elaine Bentham, from Irvine, went along with her family, eagerly expecting a "Christmas Experience like no other" but found some of the festive displays disturbing, saying:

“To confuse and probably traumatise any small children (big adults too) attending ....there is a big sign which points the way to Rudolph and his elf keeper and when you get there, their Rudolph is a not very cute or cuddly moving caged dinosaur breaking through bars and in front of him lies the severed bloodied leg and arm of some poor unfortunate wee Elf- RIP Twinkle Toes 😥-whoever came up with this has serious issues”

She warned other parents not to get their children's hopes up about the event:

“Go with a very open mind and maybe pre-prepare your little one's for an alternative Christmas experience with no Santa. We wandered around totally bemused and confused by the whole experience uttering wtf several dozens of times

Itison are the organisers behind the event, they released a statement on Facebook promising changes after the feedback:

"Last night we finally opened the doors to Elfingrove. On a particularly wet evening we were delighted to welcome just under 7,000 people.

"Our goal is to put on events that push the creative boundaries and, with Elfingrove, deliver a night at the museum event where the museum was brought to life and we revealed Santa's ancient secret.

"Overall, we've had great feedback on the experience but we are aware it didn't meet everyone's expectations. Our aim is to listen and evolve the show based on the feedback given.

"We're really proud to bring this event to Glasgow and hope the tweaks made following the feedback from opening night will ensure that everyone attending over the coming days and weeks has an amazing night out with family & friends"
