Elderly man dies after being missing for 3 days

The 83 year old was found in a critical condition yesterday near Bishopbriggs

An elderly man who was found in a wood three days after he went missing has died in hospital.

Henry Patterson, 83, from Bishopbriggs, East Dunbartonshire, was discovered on Thursday in a densely wooded area near to the Forth and Clyde Canal.

The pensioner, who had dementia and was reported missing on Monday, was taken by ambulance to Glasgow Royal Infirmary in a critical condition.

Mr Patterson later died at the hospital, Police Scotland confirmed.

Inspector Duncan Evans said: "Our thoughts, the thoughts of those in the local community and all those who shared our appeals for information, will no doubt be with the family of Mr Patterson."
