Eight year old girl seriously injured in quad bike crash in Ayrshire

An eight-year-old girl has been seriously injured in a quad bike crash in Ayrshire.

The girl and a 27-year-old man both sustained serious injuries when the bike crashed on a public footpath in Springfield Gardens, Irvine.

Emergency services attended and the casualties were taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment where they are said to be in a serious condition.

Police are investigating the incident which happened at around 5.30pm on Saturday.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: 'An investigation is underway to establish the full circumstances of the crash and inquires are ongoing.'
