Edge Fest: Billy Ocean and Wet Wet Wet to headline new south of Scotland music festival
Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Ella Henderson, Callum Beattie, Heather Small, and Gabrielle also included in star-studded line-up
Chart-toppers Billy Ocean and Wet Wet Wet are set to headline a new two-day music festival in the Scottish Borders.
The X Factor's Ella Henderson, M People's Heather Small and Salamander Street star Callum Beattie are also included in the star-studded line-up at Edge Fest this summer, along with Sophie Ellis-Bextor - famed for her Kitchen Discos during lockdown - and Gabrielle.
The family-friendly event will be staged at Lilliardsedge Holiday Park, just north of Jedburgh, on Saturday and Sunday, September 2nd and 3rd, 2023.
The music festival was initially due to be staged three years ago, but was postponed due to Covid.
Organiser Stuart Macdonald told us: "We're just really excited to be bringing a major event to the area.
"People in the Borders have always had to travel outwith the region to attend festivals and major concerts, and there's not really any reason why it can't be on everybody's doorstep.
"We just hope the public will like what we've put together, so we can bring it back and build on it for the future."
Peat and Diesel, Be Charlotte and Connor Fyfe will join Love Really Hurts Without You hit-maker Billy Ocean on the Saturday, while The Eves, Lewis Ross and Rianne Downey and Skerryvore join Wet, Wet, Wet - famous for number one song Love Is All Around - on Sunday.
And with revellers expected to converge on the Borders attraction from all over the country, it's hoped the event will give the region a much-welcomed tourism boost.
Stuart, who's commercial director at Lilliardsedge, said: "We've already booked out several hotels and other accommodation just to host artists, bands and crew; just to be able to facilitate the event. And that's before we welcome the festival-goers themselves from all over.
"We're also very focussed on keeping our suppliers - whether that be for the bar stock, food vendors or infrastructure - as local as possible. So it really is going to be a huge benefit to the area, whether looking at it economically or as a festival-goer who now have a significant festival on their doorstep."
