East Renfrewshire van owners urged to be 'vigilant' after spate of break-ins

Officers are appealing for information about a series of thefts

Officers are appealing for information following a series of break-ins and thefts from work vans in the East Renfrewshire area.

The break-ins took place overnight between Wednesday, 11 September, 2024 into Thursday, 12 September, 2024 at multiple locations, including Park Crescent, Gilmour Street, Woodside Drive, Floors Road, Craighlaw Avenue and Kirkton Drive in Eaglesham, as well as Morven Drive, Viaduct Road and Eaglesham Road in Clarkston.

Inspector Brian Eaglesham, of Giffnock Police Station, said: "These incidents are believed to be linked and extensive enquiries are ongoing.

"I would would ask anyone who witnessed anything suspicious, or has any information which may assist our enquiries, to come forward.

“If you have any CCTV, doorbell footage, or dashcam recordings that could assist our investigation, please get in touch.

“Additionally, I would also urge van owners to stay vigilant with vehicle security and ensure valuables are removed to discourage opportunistic thefts.”
