A East Kilbride man is to stand trial charged with trying to kill two women on the same day.

Gerald Stark, 46, is said to have carried out the first alleged attack at a property in the town on October 30 2021.

It is claimed he put his arm around her neck and attempted to slit her throat with a knife.

Stark then allegedly stabbed her on the neck with the blade.

Prosecutors state he attacked the second woman elsewhere in East Kilbride on the same date.

It is said he wrapped a ligature around her neck and tightened it.

The woman allegedly lost consciousness and fell to the ground.

Stark's legal team pled not guilty on his behalf to the two attempted murder charges during a hearing at the High Court in Glasgow.

A trial was set for May 2023.
