Off-Duty Police Officer Killed In Crash

An off-duty police officer has died after his car collided with a lorry. John Woods, 42, has been identified as the victim of yesterday's crash near Beith in North Ayrshire. The father-of-three was driving on the A736 Lochlibo Road between Lugton and Burnhouse when his Kia collided with an articulated lorry at about 1.30pm. The 54-year-old truck driver was not injured. Police Scotland confirmed that Mr Woods was a serving officer. He was not on duty at the time of the crash.
