Dumfries Cabinet Meeting Announced
The Scottish Cabinet will meet in Dumfries later this month as part of Nicola Sturgeon's pledge to lead "the most open and accessible'' Government ever.
The First Minister promised regular meetings of her top team outside of Edinburgh when she took over from Alex Salmond in November.
Local communities will have the opportunity to raise issues directly with the cabinet at the events, with the first set for January 26.
Ms Sturgeon said: "The Government I lead intends to be open, listening and available in a way we have not seen before - the most open and accessible government that Scotland has had.
"That is why we are making sure that the business of government is open to everyone who wants to be involved and we want to hear your views. Those views will not only be heard, but will also result in real action.
"Our strongest focus is on growing our economy, protecting public services, tackling inequality and empowering our communities.
"But we must be united in the business of making Scotland a better place to live and work. Together we can build a fairer and more prosperous country.
"The last time I was in the area I made a commitment that the Cabinet would visit Dumfries, so I am delighted that this is the first of many Cabinets to be held across Scotland.''
