A 22-year old from Drymen has taken on a running challenge, to raise mental health awareness.

James Semple tackled the West Highland Way - and completed it in just over one day.

James took on the challenge after hitting a low point last year.

He said: "It gave me a sense of purpose and a feeling of self-worth.

"The combination of sharing my story and doing the run - I wanted to be able to inspire other people and push myself both mentally and physically.

"It was round about half way I started to feel a bit fatigued, my legs were starting to get a bit sore.

"I got to Beinglas Ben Glass Farm - that part really gubbed me, is probably the best way to put it."

James says he struggled a lot last year, but found it difficult to get any support.

He said: "The wait to go and see someone was a year long wait - that really frustrated me and hurt really as to why not just me but thousands and thousands of others have to wait so long to seek professional help for your mental health."

James has raised nearly £10,000 so far for SAMH.
