A MAN is to stand trial charged with trying to kill his wife - including a claim he poured bleach into her mouth. Alan O'Donnell is accused of attacking Lorraine Lorimer at a flat in Yoker, Glasgow in February this year. The indictment alleges the 46 year-old forced her to the floor before repeatedly punching and stamping on her head. The woman is also said to have been repeatedly struck with a rolling pin.

O'Donnell is accused of pouring "bleach into her mouth" as well as over her head and body.

He is further alleged to have tried put tape over her mouth, then asked a 14 year-old boy to get a knife before presenting another blade at his wife.

O'Donnell denied attempted murder during a hearing at the High Court in Glasgow.

O'Donnell, of the city's Drumchapel, is due to stand trial next March.
