The chair of a charity helping to prevent male suicide in Drumchapel is telling us demand for its foodbank service is through the roof and they're running out of items.

Men Matter Scotland was set up back in 2020 and provides a place for guys all over the country to socialise and talk about their feelings.

Tom Elvin told Clyde 1: "We are looking for people to donate items which are normally part of a dinner which is really easy to make.

"Some local supermarkets provide perishable items but we need tins, cans, fish and meat to make up meals."

The charity runs a dedicated facility in Drumchapel providing space for men from all backgrounds to play video games, watch TV and try out new hobbies.

"Far too many people look down their noses at others"

Tom says many men are embarrassed about having to take from the foodbank because they're often viewed as the bread winners for their families.

He added: "There is an element of pride to all of this and we don't measure or monitor what people take.

"Far too many people look down their noses at others who have to use these services.

"There is no rhyme or reason for people finding themselves in these circumstances and I think we always advocate for people to be nice.

"If you can help then please do so, but if you can't and you don't have anything nice to say just don't say anything at all."
