Taxi drivers around Glasgow are getting ready to rev their engines once again as they take three hundred and fifty children with additional support needs to Troon.

They'll be setting off in their vehicles decorated with balloons and filled with toys from Kelvin Way at 11 o'clock.

Organiser Stephen Lalley told Clyde 1: "I'd like to see everyone in Glasgow out waving.

"Teachers tell us many of these children are focused on going to Troon as soon as they come back from their Christmas holidays, they want to get on the beach and have fun.

"I feel fortunate that I can go home and jump in the car with my children to Troon but many of the kids we are taking don't have that ability."

Vehicles will start arriving on Kelvin Way from around 9.30 before setting off at 11 this morning.

The parade of around 130 cars will make its way through Sauchiehall Street and George Square before passing through the Southside and straight on to Troon.

Stephen added: "We're taking over 350 kids and we all want to give them a great day to remember."
