Car forced off the road in Cadder and injured driver seriously assaulted

Around 10pm on Monday a car was forced off the road near the Luddon Training Centre.

Detectives are appealing for information following a serious assault in Cadder on Monday 29 January 2018.

Around 10pm, police received a report that a car had been forced off the road in Balmore Road, near to the Luddon Training Centre, hitting a wall.

Following the crash, the passenger in the car, a 52 year-old man, went to get help.

The 50 year-old driver remained in the car and was seriously assaulted.

When emergency services attended and the 50 year-old man was taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

Enquiries carried out so far have revealed that the vehicle, a black Ford Focus, was forced off the road, possibly by two other vehicles. It’s not known how many people were in the other two vehicles or who assaulted the 50 year-old driver.

Officers are appealing for any motorists who were on Balmore Road last night around the time of the incident, in particular, those with any dash cam footage. Officers will also check CCTV cameras from in and around the area for any footage which could assist the investigation and can provide further information additional information it can provide.

The Ford Focus has been retained by police and will undergo a full forensic examination.

Detective Inspector Allan MacInnes said: ‘The motive for this incident is unknown, it’s vital we establish the exact circumstances of what took place and why. I am appealing to motorists who were in the vicinity around the time of the incident to contact us.

‘Although, you may not have seen the actual incident you may have seen cars driving at speed along Balmore Road and I would appeal to you to contact us with any information you may have.’
