A serial domestic abuser who brutally assaulted his lover has been jailed for 44 months.

Aleksander Stelmaszuk, 44, turned on the woman at a flat in Glasgow's Ibrox on May 14 2023.

Stelmaszuk straddled the woman on the body and headbutted her.

He went on to repeatedly kick her on the body and uttered sexual remarks at her.

Stelmaszuk then seized her by the neck and compressed it which restricted her breathing.

Stelmaszuk pursued her, repeatedly punched her on the head and uttered threats of violence.

He as found guilty by a jury at Glasgow Sheriff Court to assaulting the woman to her severe injury.

Stelmaszuk, formerly of Paisley, Renfrewshire, was caged for seven years and two months in 2013 for vicious assaults on two women.

The case which initially was a Sheriff Court case was remitted to the High Court.

A sheriff believed that the maximum five-year sentence he could impose was not enough.

Stelmaszuk dragged one woman towards a 12th floor window and threatened to throw her out.

He also scaled and choked her in front of her son as well as wrapped a duvet around her face despite her being claustrophobic.

A second woman was choked, bit on the nose, struck with a broom, punched, kicked in an intimate area on her body as well as cut on the arm and hand with a knife.

Stelmaszuk also tried to force her face into the bars of an electric fire and put thumbs in her eyes.

A five-year non-harassment order which restricts Stelmaszuk's contact with his latest victim was granted by Sheriff Paul Reid.

He said: "I take account your criminal record which is frankly appalling for offences of violence in particular towards women.

"There is no option other than imposing a lengthy prison sentence."
