Police left caring for dog thrown out of a van on the A77 near Stranraer

Appeal for information on the incident on Thursday

There's a police appeal to track down the people in van who dumped a dog on a main road just outside Stranraer.

Witnesses saw it being thrown from a white ford transit with black tinted windows on the A77 at Innermessan at around 15.50 on Thursday.

The dog was was left at the side of the road and the vehicle made off.

Dog now staying at police station

The people who stopped picked up the dog which is now being looked after at the police station in Stranraer.

Officers are asking anyone recognises the description of the van or was on the road and may have dashcam footage to contact Stranraer police on 101.
