A trip to the seaside could leave you feeling like the star of a Hitchcock movie.

That's according to business owners in Largs who are fed up with beach goers feeding the seagulls.

The protected birds are apparently getting vicious and attacking people carrying food.

Toni Dawson who owns Suger & Spice Ice Cream Parlour on the town's main street decided to issue a plea via her buisnesses Facebook page after a baby was attacked at her ice cream window and was left bleeding.

Her post has been shared over 800 times since she published it on Saturday.

She said: "Traditionally people come for a bag of chips and a walk along the prom, but it's becoming an entertainment factor. People are sitting in their cars and throwing the seagulls chips and it's making them bigger, fatter, stronger and more vicious.

"A young couple with an 18 month-old and they got a small ice cream for the child. They hadn't walked 10 steps from my front window and a seagull swooped down and took the ice cream right out the little boys hand. It cut him and that was their trip to the seaside ruined. The three of them were very upset.

"I just want people to stop feeding them. There are signs everywhere and people ignore them. You try to say to people please stop feeding them, they are attacking people and they instantly argue with you because they can't see the harm in it, but it is causing harm. People are going to get hurt."
