Discoloured water expected in Glasgow homes after burst main

Thousands of homes across Glasgow have been impacted by a burst water main in the city centre this morning (Friday 21 April).
Engineers expect supply should be restored to households shortly, as they work to repair the problem.
The burst caused severe flooding and traffic disruption at Anniesland Cross.

Scottish Water says people might see some discolouration to their water supply this afternoon, and not to be alarmed.
Communications Manager, Keith Sinclair, said: "Normal water supplies are being restored to customers who were affected by a burst water main in parts of Glasgow earlier this morning.
"Scottish Water engineers have quickly installed a back feed and rezoned the network to start the restoration of normal supplies following the burst.
"Customers should now be back in supply and any who are not should be soon.
"Properties in parts of the centre, the west and south-west of Glasgow were affected following the burst, which occurred on a 36 inch trunk main in the area of Anniesland which caused some localised flooding.
"The burst caused some low water pressure or loss of supply to properties in the city centre, the West End, Partick, Anniesland, and Govan in the southside.
"Customers who were affected might experience discoloured water when the supplies are restored and they can be assured this is normal after such an incident.
"We have a factsheet on our website that provides information about how to resolve this type of issue.
"We advise customers to allow their cold water kitchen tap to run at a reduced pressure until the water runs clear.
"We apologise for the inconvenience and obviously thank everyone who's been affected for their understanding and patience."
