Detectives investigate after man seriously hurt in Greenock

Detectives have launched an investigation into an attack on a 43-year-old man in Greenock on Monday afternoon.

It happened at around 4pm when he was walking with a friend on Grieve Road at its junction with Old Inverkip Road.

He was approached from behind and assaulted.

He was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow and treated for stab wounds.

Detective Constable Kirsty Murray said: “Our enquiries are continuing into this incident and we are viewing CCTV footage to gather more information on the man responsible.

“If you were in the area and witnessed this attack or if you have any information that will assist our ongoing investigation, please contact us.

"We are also keen to obtain any dash-cam from motorists driving near this junction at the time.
