Details of suspects' car in Maryhill shooting released by police
Kenny Reilly was shot on Monday 16 April
Details of the car used by the suspects in a fatal shooting in Maryhill last month have been released by police.
Kenny Reilly died after being shot as he sat in a car at the junction of Maryhill Road and Bilsland Drive around 10.20pm on Monday 16 April 2018.
Detectives investigating his murder have re-appealed for information and say the car used in the shooting was a Ford S Max.
Detective Superintendent Kenny Graham, the senior investigating officer, said: “A team of officers continues to carry out extensive enquiries into the murder of Kenny Reilly and his family are absolutely devastated by his senseless killing.
“I am now in a position to say that the people carrier that was found burnt out nearby in Craigieburn Gardens was a black Ford S Max.
“Following forensic examination by specialist officers we know it was definitely the car used in the shooting and that it had been stolen from the Giffnock area of Glasgow overnight on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th March 2018.
“We also have sightings of the vehicle being driven between the date it was stolen and the date it was found ablaze immediately after the murder of Kenny Reilly on 16 April 2018.
“These sightings are currently under investigation by the Kenny Reilly Murder Investigation Team and officers are conducting extensive CCTV investigations into these sightings.
“I can also confirm that we have captured forensic evidence from the examination of the Ford S Max at the location where it was set on fire in Craigieburn Gardens.”
29-year-old Kenny Reilly was sitting in the passenger seat of a silver BMW when the black Ford S Max pulled up and a passenger, wearing a black balaclava, got out of the car and shot him. He was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary by ambulance where he died a few days later.
Detective Superintendent Graham concluded: “The attack on Kenny Reilly was not a random one; he was the intended victim and there is no doubt that he was targeted by the suspects. We have spoken with hundreds of members of the public and continue to appeal to anyone with information which can assist our enquiry to get in touch.
“If you remember seeing a black Ford S Max in the area on the night of Monday, 16 April or indeed before it, we want to hear from you and urge you to come forward."
