Descriptions released of masked gang who tied up and robbed Bothwell family

Detectives investigating a robbery in Bothwell, where a couple and a school boy were tied up and threatened with a knife, have released descriptions of the suspects.

The four masked men stole watches and jewellery worth a six figure sum of money around 7:30pm on Tuesday.

The suspects all spoke in what is described as broken English and are further described as:

1. 5ft 10 inches in height and of stocky build with an olive complexion. He was wearing dark coloured clothing including a jacket, scarf, hat, tracksuit trousers, black boots and was also carrying a black and white rucksack.

2. 5ft 10 inches in height and of medium build with an olive complexion. He was wearing dark coloured clothing including a hooded jacket, tracksuit trousers, a hat and woollen gloves. He also wore black, beige and green camouflage print Adidas trainers.

3. 5ft 10 inches in height and of medium build with a fair complexion. He was wearing a dark coloured hooded top with a scarf covering the lower part of his face. He was wearing gloves, navy tracksuit trousers and black Nike trainers.

4. 5ft 10 inches in height and of medium build with a fair complexion. He was wearing a dark coloured thin padded jacket with stitched squares. He was wearing dark brown trousers with no socks.

Extensive enquiries are underway to trace the individuals involved and officers have been examining CCTV footage as well as speaking to local residents.

Detective Inspector Susie Cairns from Cambuslang CID said:

“A dedicated team of specialist officers is working on this investigation and from enquiries carried out so far, we believe that a blue or dark coloured estate vehicle may have been involved in the incident.

“The car was seen parked up in Blantyre Road prior to the robbery taking place and it is believed to have made off in the direction of Uddingston Road following the incident.

"We would appeal to anyone who may have seen the vehicle, or four men acting suspiciously, to please come forward.

“We would also ask any motorists who were in the surrounding area on the evening of Tuesday 31 October, who have a dashcam which may have captured any information regarding the incident, to get in touch.
