Demonstrators in Glasgow demand an end to late payment fees for energy bills
They will hold a protest outside the Scottish Power building on Vincent Street this afternoon.
There is a warning thousands of children across Scotland will be opening up their Christmas presents in a freezing cold house because of rising energy bills.
Demonstrators will gather outside the Scottish Power building in Glasgow later to demand "prices not people are frozen."
Organiser Frances Curran from Power to the People told Clyde 1: "There are people on decent wages who cannot afford their energy bills because they are £250 or £300 every month.
"They are going to coffee shops, libraries and even sitting on buses because it is warmer than their house.
"I think this will have a major impact on the health service too because it is now affecting people's physical and mental health."
As prices are set to rise even further in the new year, there are rumblings of more action to get energy bosses to lower the cost of bills.
"Too many people already don't have the money"
Frances added: "We are going to bring everybody who is campaigning against rocketing prices together for a conference of resistance.
"There has to be a way to get these companies to cancel the planned rise in April.
"Too many people already don't have the money and it is only going to get worse.
"We need to see an end to prepayment meters for those who don't want them and late payment fees must be scrapped now."
We've asked Scottish Power for comment.
