Delivery driver suffers serious injuries during van theft

A man has suffered serious injuries after he had his van stolen in an attack in North Lanarkshire in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The man was found lying in the road at about 5.40am on Saturday in West Main Street, Harthill.

He was taken to Wishaw General Hospital with serious injuries.

The van, a blue Iveco, was then used in an attempted raid at a store on Ochilview Square, Armadale, at around 6.10am.

It was later found abandoned in the town's Forrester Road.

Detective Sergeant Derrick Lunan said: ''The van driver was seriously injured during the theft and we would like to speak to anyone who saw what happened as well as any suspicious activity beforehand.

We are also keen to speak to anyone who saw this van being driven around at that time in the morning and after the incident at the store before it was then abandoned.
