Date Set for Castlemilk Murder Trial

A man is to stand trial in connection with a murder in Glasgow's Castlemilk area.

George Smith is charged with killing 45 year-old Steven Larkin on December 7 last year.

Smith is said to have punched, kicked and stamped on Mr Larkin at a flat in Stravanan Road, Castlemilk.

Prosecutors also alleged the 54 year-old "inflicted blunt force injuries" dragged Mr Larkin from the property and compressed his neck with a scarf or by other means.

Smith today pled not guilty during a short hearing at the High Court in Glasgow.

Judge Lord Turnbull set a trial due to start in October.
