Glasgow's dancing Christmas tree returns to streets as the Disco Chicken
Kate Deeming is dressing up as a Disco Chicken and taking to the streets to spread some joy once again.
Last Christmas, people in the south side of Glasgow were greeted by a dancing Christmas tree on their streets, which went viral on social media.
Now, Kate Deeming, the woman behind the costume, is dressing up as a Disco Chicken and taking to the streets to spread some joy once again.
Kate has hired a video van to drive around the southside and visit some schools showing a short film she’s made called "10 seconds of joy" featuring children from Pollokshields.
Kate has been telling Clyde 1 how the idea came about.
"It was like people were seeing something they missed."
She said: "I was commissioned by the Tramway as part of their Tramway beyond walls programme to create a project for the community of Pollokshields.
"I came up with the idea - I thought what would be great is to do outoor dance workshops with the kids and we'll just make them about having fun and then we'll make a film and we'll call it '10 seconds of joy' and we'll just have lots of kids dancing.
"And then it just occurred to me one day and I was like 'and I'll dress like a disco chicken!' and that's how it happened."
Kate's dancing has always had a positive reaction in Glasgow.
She said: "I was dancing around like I do outdoors in my chicken costume, and you could just see people's shoulders relax and their faces would open, and it was like they were seeing something they missed."
You can spot the video van driving around the southside of Glasgow today.
