Man charged in connection with Dalry murder

A 38 year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the murder of Sean McKay in Dalry.

The 23 year-old was attacked as he walked home on Sunday night.

The man is due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Wednesday 13 October.

Police are asking anyone with anymore information to get in touch.

A police spokesperson said: "Mr McKay died following an attack as he walked along St Margaret's Avenue, Dalry around 9.05pm on Sunday night.

"Officers are keen to speak to anyone who has not yet come forward. Anyone with information should call 101 quoting reference number 3404 of Sunday, 10 October, 2021 or call Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555 111."

'My heart aches'

Clyde 1 News spoke to Sean's mum who paid tribute to her son: "We are just all in shock and just cannot understand why anyone would want to hurt our Sean.

"We are so grateful and want to thank the people who tried desperately to save him. We are so thankful he wasn't on his own. We thank them from the bottom of our hearts.

"Our whole family is devastated. My heart aches to hold him in one of his hugs.

"He was always the joker. A happy man who doted on his girlfriend Chloe and their beautiful 15 month old son Oscar.

"We are so grateful for all the kind words and support from friends, family and strangers.

"Also for his Aunt who set up the Just Giving page and everyone who has donated."
