Cyclist dies after being hit by van on side of East Whitburn road

The 34 year old had been standing near Main Street after coming off his bike

A 34 year old man has died after being hit by a van in East Whitburn on Saturday.

Police were called to Main Street at around 6.10am on 14 February to reports of a crash between a vehicle and a pedestrian.

The 34 year old man had been standing at the side of the road after coming off his bike when he was struck.

He died at the scene.

The driver of the white Vauxhall van was uninjured.

Police appeal

Sergeant Fraser Mitchell said “ Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died in this crash.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of what happened and I am appealing to anyone who has information to come forward.

"If anyone saw the white Vauxhall van or a cyclist on or off a black pedal cycle in the area around the time of the collision, please contact us.

“I would also urge anyone who has dash-cam or personal footage to please review it and get in touch if there is anything that may be relevant to our investigation.

“Anyone with information should call 101 quoting incident 0681 of Saturday, 14 February 2026."
