Female cyclist airlifted to hospital as teenage driver is arrested in Ayrshire
It happened at near the entrance to Culzean Country Park
A teenage driver’s been arrested in Ayrshire by police after a crash with female cyclist who had to be airlifted to hospital in Glasgow.
The 69-year-old woman sustained serious injuries in the collision on the A719, near the entrance to Culzean Country Park at around 2.35pm on Friday 2nd June.
The cyclist was taken by helicopter to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where she remains in a serious but stable condition.
The 18-year-old male driver of the car was arrested in connection with road traffic offences and released pending further enquiries.
The road was closed for nearly 11 hours, finally reopening in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Dash cam appeal to drivers
Sergeant Gordon Stewart of Ayrshire Road Policing said: “I am appealing for anyone with information regarding this incident to contact us.
I would ask any motorists particularly with dash cams who were in and around that area to check the footage as it may have captured images that could assist in our investigation.”
