Three charged with attempted murder of Cumbernauld shopkeeper

Two teenage boys are among three people arrested and charged with attempted murder after a robbery and alleged knife attack at a shop in Cumbernauld on Christmas Eve.

The 14 and 15 year olds and a 20 year old are due to appear at Airdrie Sheriff Court later.

Around 8.05pm, the 40 year old shopkeeper was attacked by six youths who stole alcohol from his store on Glenhove Road, Carbrain.

He was taken by ambulance Monklands District General Hospital where medical staff described his condition as serious but stable.
