Police confirm huge Cumbernauld fire was 'not suspicious'

Police officers have confirmed that a huge fire in North Lanarkshire was not suspicious.

The blaze was reported around 3pm on Tuesday, 1 April 2025 and emergency services attended - including six fire appliances and specialist trauma teams - in an industrial estate in Mid Road in Cumbernauld.

Six men, aged between 20 and 66, were taken to hospital where they were treated for non-serious injuries.

Nearby business properties which had been evacuated have reopened and local residents are no longer being advised to keep windows and doors closed.
