Man fighting for life after being hit by car in Glasgow

The 58-year-old is critical in hospital after the incident in the east end

A man’s fighting for life after being hit by a car in Glasgow last night.

The incident happened around 8.40pm on Carntyne Road at its junction with Murrayfield Street and involved a silver Volkswagen T-Cross car.

Emergency services attended and the 58-year-old pedestrian was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where medical experts describe his condition as critical. The driver of the car was uninjured.

The road was closed while emergency services were in attendance and re-opened around 3am on Sunday.

Sergeant Chris McColm of Road Policing said: “We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash, or who may have dash-cam footage of significance, to please get in touch.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3463 of Saturday, 22 March, 2025.”
