Motorcyclist critically ill after crash involving three HGVs in Bellshill

Officers are appealing for information following a serious four vehicle road crash on the A725 southbound in Bellshill.

The incident happened around 12.25pm yesterday at the slip road for Hamilton Road, and involved a motorbike and three HGVs.

Emergency services attended and a 56-year-old man, the rider of the motorbike, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where his condition is described as critical but stable. No one else was injured.

The road was closed for road crash investigation work and recovery and re-opened around 11.30pm.

Road policing officer David Murdoch said: “Our enquiries to establish the full circumstances relating to this crash are ongoing and we are appealing for information.

“In particular we are asking for anyone with dash-cam footage that could assist with our investigation to come forward.

“If you can assist please call us on 101, quoting incident number 1328 of Wednesday, 8 March, 2023.”
