The dad of murdered Paisley man Craig McClelland is exclusively telling Clyde News he is more determined than ever to get justice for his son, after being diagnosed with brain cancer.

Doctors have given 60 year-old Michael months to live.

Dad of three Craig was murdered near his Foxbar home by James Wright in July 2017. He was 'unlawfully at large' at the time of the attack.

Since then the family have been campaigning to make it a specific crime to break off an electronic tag. They have also asked the Lord Advocate for a Fatal Accident Inquiry to find out why Wright was not taken back to prison before he had a chance to attack.

The 26 year-old was jailed for life in June 2018 but claimed he did not get a fair trial, claiming his defence made mistakes in the closing speech to jurors.

However, after a week of deliberating in May this year, the appeal was quashed.

Michael said: "Craig's murder has destroyed my family.

"I decided 24 months ago that a lot of my family would move aside and let me fight for justice for Craig. That was my job as a dad to go and do that.

"Unfortunately it looks like now in a couple of months I might not be here - I don't know how long, I might be lucky - but, I need answers. I need answers to my son's death.

"I'm probably at my lowest, lowest ebb when it comes to the Scottish justice system.

"I haven't heard anything in the 26 months since Craig was murdered that's reassured me. I constantly listen to sound bites... 'robust'... 'lessons will be learned'. It means nothing.

"You know, I am where I am and I'm a strong guy. And my faith tells me I'm going to see my son again one day. But I need answers before I go.'
