Couple left shaken after attempted robbery

A man forced his way into a home in Bearsden through a window on Friday evening.

The man confronted and threatened the couple in their 60's and asked them to hand over their belongings at 7.40pm on Friday 5 January.

He then fled with another two men who had been hovering outside, once the alarm at the property on Cromalt Crescent had been activated.

The 65 year-old man and 64 year-old woman were left shaken but unharmed.

The three suspects ran up a lane towards Stockiemuir Road, near a BP petrol station where it is believed they may have got into a vehicle.

The man who gained entry into the property is described as being 5ft 9, of stocky build and was wearing a black jacket, black jogging bottoms and a hat.

He had his face covered, however is described as having an English accent.

Detective Inspector Jim Biggam, Glasgow Stewart Street CID, said:'Thankfully nobody was harmed, or anything stolen during this incident however the couple have been left extremely fearful and shaken.

'We have been conducting door to door enquiries and checking CCTV within the area in order to trace the suspects involved and are looking for anybody with any further information to come forward and contact us.

'Were you in the area at the time, or perhaps at the nearby petrol station shortly after the incident? Do you remember seeing anything out of the ordinary?'
