There is an appeal for witnesses after a man and woman were assaulted in broad daylight in Dennistoun.

The 57 and 46 year-old were walking along Alexandra Parade near to Meadowpark Street when they were approached by two men - the attack took place in the middle of the road and forced cars to stop.

The woman was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment to facial and eye injuries and the man's injuries are described as superficial.

The men responsible are described as being white male, aged in their late 20's and slim build. One of them had ginger hair and was wearing a blue jacket. The other had dark hair and was wearing a cream hooded top.

They both made off in the direction of Meadowpark Street.

Detective Constable Graham Clarke is appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

He said: "This violent and unprovoked attack took place in broad daylight in a very busy area of Glasgow. I am appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the assaults to get in touch with me as a matter of urgency."
