Cop in hospital after East Kilbride hit-and-run

A police spokeman said: “Around 2030 hrs on Wednesday 21 June 2017, police approached an Audi A4 car in Ness Drive, East Kilbride, and whist carrying out enquiries, the driver of the car allegedly drove at a male officer before driving off.
“The 29-year-old officer was taken to Hairmyres Hospital where he is currently being treated for a leg injury.
"Hospital staff describe his condition as stable.
“The Audi car was traced a short time later and a 38-year-old man was arrested and detained in police custody in connection with the incident.”
A number of patrol cars and a force helicopter descended on the area in East Kilbride following Wednesday night's incident.
There remained a police presence at a property on Ness Drive in the early hours of Thursday.
The suspect is expected to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court tomorrow.
