Paisley primary school pupil has coronavirus
A pupil at a primary school in Paisley has tested positive for coronavirus with close contacts in the school now being traced.
Renfrewshire Council confirmed the case at Todholm Primary School with parents and carers contacted by text to inform them of developments.
Letters are also to be sent by NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) saying "there is currently no evidence to suggest that there is transmission occurring within the school itself''.
A statement on the council's Facebook page said: "We can confirm a pupil at Todholm Primary School in Paisley has this afternoon tested positive for Covid-19.
"All parents and carers with a child at the school are being contacted via text message to make them aware of the situation.
"We are following the advice of NHSGGC, who have undertaken a careful risk assessment.
"They are advising there is no current evidence the virus has been transmitted inside the school and that it remains safe for pupils and staff to attend.
"The Test and Protect team are currently contacting any individuals who have been in close contact with the pupil and advising them to self-isolate at home.
"The health of our pupils and staff is our biggest priority and we will continue to follow the advice of our health service colleagues over how best to protect that.''
A problem assessment group (PAG), involving the health board and local authority, met on Monday afternoon.
Dr Catriona Milosevic, public health medicine consultant at the health board, said: "Close contacts are being advised to self-isolate and being given appropriate advice. We are working closely with Todholm Primary School and Renfrewshire Council to do this.
"To maintain patient confidentiality we are unable to give any further information.
"To control the spread of the virus it is essential that anyone contacted by Test and Protect follows the directions given including self-isolation. Anyone who may have been exposed are being given appropriate advice.
"We would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone of the importance of continuing with the general measures to minimise the risk of Covid-19 to themselves and to others.
"These include social distancing, regular handwashing, and being vigilant for symptoms. Anyone with symptoms should immediately self-isolate and seek a test.''
Another two primary school pupils have tested positive in Perth and Kinross.
A pupil from Newhill Primary School in Blairgowrie and another from Oakbank Primary School in Perth have mild symptoms and are now self isolating.
41 close contacts to the students including some staff and pupils are also now in isolation.
Perth and Kinross council along with NHS Tayside are reassuring parents there's no evidence of further transmission and the schools will stay open.
