Concern growing for Balfron man William Miller missing for a week
Police in Dumbarton are re-appealling for information about William Miller, who has been missing from his home in the Balfron area since last Wednesday
A man believed to be the 62-year-old was captured on CCTV in a Tesco in Milngavie at around 1.15pm on the same day.
He was then last spotted at the BP garage Jamestown Main Street in Alexandria just after midnight on Thursday 7 January. He'd been seen earlier on the same road in Fentons Public House where he spent most of the evening.
William is originally from the West Dunbartonshire area, knows the area well and is known to frequent the Milngavie, Balloch and Alexandria areas, including local footpaths and forest walks. Police say he does not drive and regularly uses public transport to get around.
He is described as 5ft 10” - 6ft tall and of medium build. When last seen he was wearing blue jeans, a blue and grey t-shirt, a black rain jacket with a'DOUGLAS PARK' logo and carrying a small black rucksack with light blue panels. He also usually wears a white-faced analogue watch with a brown leather strap.
Chief Inspector Graeme MacDiarmid said: "We are becoming increasing concerned about William’s whereabouts as it is out of character for him not to return home.
"We know that he was in the Milngavie area on 6 January, before travelling to Alexandria. The same evening he was seen socialising in Fentons Public House before he was last seen passing the BP Garage, Main Street, Alexandria shortly after midnight, heading back towards Dumbarton.
“We are currently making enquiries in these areas and I urge anyone who knows of William’s present whereabouts or anyone who has seen him to contact Dumbarton Police Office via 101.”
