Cocaine worth almost £50,000 found in Lanarkshire

A number of addresses were searched in Cleland and Wishaw on Friday

Over £1,000 in cash was also recovered

Cocaine worth almost £50,000 has been found in Lanarkshire.

It's after warrants were executed at a number of addresses in Cleland and Wishaw on Friday.

Over £1,000 in cash was also recovered.

A 21-year-old man and 20-year-old woman were arrested and charged in connection.

They will appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday.

Detective Sergeant Vicky Shanley at Lanarkshire Division Serious and Organised Crime, Acquisitive and Interventions said: "We are determined to protect the public from harmful criminality by disrupting sale of illegal substances and preventing them from being circulated on the streets of our community.

“Information from the public is crucial to our work and we encourage anyone with information or concerns about drug-related activity in their area to contact Police Scotland on 101.

"Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained."
