Clydebank tech repair workers made redundant on Christmas Eve

Nine employees of a technology repair firm in Clydebank have had the worst possible start to their Christmas.

Workers were just coming in for their last day before Christmas when they were told - not by their bosses but by liquidators - that they had lost their jobs.

Liqudation firm Begbies Traynor were brought in to wind up Digital Service Centre (which trades as DSC Solutions) based in Clydebank Business Park this morning after a court order was issued yesterday.

It's part of the Ancrum Group which also has centres in Aberdeen and Dundee although neither of those are affected.

According to the mother of one young apprentice, the employees were unaware of the situation until this morning.

The firm repaired technology under warranty and had official licenses to service a number of well-known brands including Samsung, Sony and Panasonic.

A spokesman for Begbies Traynor said: "On 23 December 2015, Ken Pattullo and Kenny Craig of Begbies Traynor (Glasgow) were appointed as joint provisional liquidators of DSC Limited, which today has ceased trading with immediate effect. As a result, 9 employees have been made redundant. "At the time of its closure, the Company, which repaired TV’s and other white goods under warranty/insurance claims, had approximately 50 orders on its books in various stages of repair.

"The joint provisional liquidators are currently gathering customers’ details and will be liaising with them and/or warranty providers regarding the completion or return of the items over the coming weeks.
